The Australasian Mycological Society welcomes students of mycology from throughout Australasia. The Society covers all fields including fungal taxonomy and systematics, ecology, evolution, epidemiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell and molecular biology, biotechnology, conservation and biodiversity, physiology, plant pathology and medical mycology. For students, membership of the society can provide a means of developing professional mycological networks throughout Australasia. Students are offered membership of the society at a discounted rate and are encouraged to attend and present talks or posters at conferences and workshops. Membership includes a subscription to the Australasian Mycologist.
Publication of thesis abstracts and review papers
In addition to refereed research papers, the Australasian Mycologist publishes abstracts of higher degree research theses. It also welcomes the submission of review papers (such as revised introductory thesis chapters) on a variety of mycological topics.
Awards and prizes for students
The Australasian Mycological Society established the Dr Jack Warcup Memorial Prize to honour its first patron and to encourage students to present their work at the Society's conferences. The prize is awarded to the best talk or poster presented by a student at the Society conference.
