Membership

AMS membership aims to promote mycology and interaction and collaboration among mycologists from all areas of the science.  The journal, conferences and forays are all avenues to bring members together to share their research, network and build the profile of mycology.

We encourage anyone interested in mycology and the aims of the society to apply for membership. 

Several types of membership are offered, all include a subscription to the Society’s Journal Australasian Mycologist and all individual memberships provide voting rights in Society general meetings. 

Full and concessional rates for Australian, New Zealand or other international members provide for additional postage costs.

In accordance with obligations under the Society’s Constitution, all new applications for membership are subject to ratification by Council.

Membership prices

Membership subscription in the Society covers a calendar year, with subscriptions falling due on January 1 each year. Membership includes three issues per year of Australasian Mycologist and can be purchased in the following categories:

 

Full Membership

Outside Australia and New Zealand	$100.00
Concessional Membership
The Concessional Member category covers students, retirees, and those receiving a government pension.

Laboratory Membership
Laboratory membership can be purchased by a lab head to cover themselves and all full-time PhD and MSc students under their primary supervision. The name and status of each student must be specified at the time of annual membership initiation/renewal. Laboratory membership provides the lab head and named students all membership entitlements and a single annual subscription to Australasian Mycologist.

Membership renewal and application for membership

Membership subscriptions fall due on 1 January each year.

To facilitate preparation of the Society’s accounts for auditing before the AGM, subscriptions should be received by no later than March 30, 2013.  The Treasurer will endeavour to send individual reminders to all members including any arrears.

Instructions for membership renewal and application:

1. Download the membership form to your computer.
2. Fill out the form electronically or print out a form and fill it out manually.
3. If you are filling out the form electronically, make sure you save changes before returning it.
4. Completed forms can either be posted with your cheque or money order, or returned via email. Address and contact details below.

• Cheque or money order in AU$ payable to the Australasian Mycological Society Inc.,
• Credit card or Direct Deposit using PayPal (link on the AMS website) or
• Direct deposit into the Society’s account (details on the renewal form).
  Please indicate direct deposit on your renewal form and put AMS, your first initial and your surname in the ‘narration’ field to indicate who made the payment (e.g. AMS S Abell-Davis).
